WHAT DID YOU EXPECT, A TURKEY CARD?

Baby I knew about it I just didn't care.

This year, I'm thankful for:

- writers who know the word is "cachet," not "cache"
- writers who don't write about lame stuff like "cachet" (writing about Google caches is still A-OK; writing about the words "cachet" and "cache," probably not)
- "good guy character[s] with a maniacal edge"
- Finnegans Wake for $10 on W. 4th Street
- superficially music-oriented David Brooks columns to remind people who don't usually read the Times' political punditry that Brooksy is a lazy, disingenuous hack, and to hasten the day of our long-threatened rap battle
- bloggers correctly calling out out the empty rhetoric of bizarrely overpaid pundits and city-school chancellors alike
- non-pimps remembering what Pimp C taught them
- "Surfer Dude Stuns Physicists With Theory of Everything"
- everything I care about that hasn't been turned into a mockery by James Blunt
